Cleveland Cavaliers: 5 goals for Collin Sexton’s rookie season
1. Remain humble and focused
Much of the intrigue with Collin Sexton in the pre-draft process was with his competitive fire. He doesn’t waste his time with social media and wants to pursue a college degree because his brother and sister will get one. Sexton wants to be the best in all facets of his life.
As he begins to make a name for himself and become a fan favorite, it’ll be important for Sexton to keep working on his craft. His 3-point shot, passing and defense are all points of improvement. It’s easy to get caught up in the moment, like so many players do.
Sexton has an incredible work ethic and will be the Cavs’ leader for that reason alone. Players like Jimmy Butler and Russell Westbrook are known for their old school mentality and incredible dedication to the game, and Sexton will be too.
If the Cavs have lackluster performance or suffer through a losing streak, Young Bull will undoubtedly be in the gym grinding to try and end his teams losing.
He’ll be in contention for All-Rookie first team and Rookie of the Year, and could win both if he helps to carry the Cavs to the playoffs. Regardless of how Cleveland performs, Sexton should continue to carry himself the way he has all the years he was being overlooked.
