2. Improve mid-range game

One of the positives about Hutchison’s game is the fact he is a good finisher at the rim. Secondly, he shot the ball at a decent clip during his collegiate career, knocking down 47.6 of his overall attempts, including a 50.8 conversion rate on two-point field goals.

With those stats in mind, and taking into consideration that Hutchison knocked down over 35 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc in each of the last two seasons, one could be tempted to think there is little room for improvement from a scoring standpoint.

More from Hoops Habit

Not so fast.

Hutchison has improved his efficiency from distance following his first two seasons at Boise State, but the one area where he has struggled with is the mid-range game. He shot an abysmal 18.8 percent on pull-up jumpers and 27.5 percent on runners.

Unfortunately, the story doesn’t end there. Hutchison also converted just 32.3 percent of his jump shot attempts, which could be cause for concern within an offense that a very perimeter-oriented for the most part.

There are going to be instances when the Bulls face teams who will make a concerted effort to take his 3-point shot and have solid shot blockers waiting at the rim.

Adding an effective mid-range jump shot to his game will help Hutchison become a matchup nightmare from just about every spot on the floor.
