Chicago Bulls: 5 goals for Chandler Hutchison’s rookie season
4. Improve ball-handling
After a very modest start to his collegiate career, Hutchison improved his scoring, rebounding and assists in each of the last three seasons. While that is certainly impressive, another number that has increased is the turnovers.
After committing a total of 46 turnovers in his first two collegiate seasons, that number jumped to 86 in his junior year and then jumped up again to 104 last season, which equates to an average of 3.4 turnovers per contest.

To be objective, some of this can be attributed to Hutchison being the focal point of the team’s offense, as his usage rate was a whopping 33.2 percent last season.
Unfortunately, Hutchison failed to make a significant improvement in this area during Summer League competition, averaging 3.2 turnovers per contest.
As good of a facilitator as Kris Dunn was for the Bulls last season (6.0 assists per contest), the one concern Fred Hoiberg had about Dunn early in the season was the high number of turnovers he committed.
This was understandable because the second-year point guard was averaging nearly as many turnovers as he did assists.
On those nights when Dunn was ineffective, he was often replaced by Jerian Grant. In other words, Hutchison will need to shore up this area of his game if he hopes to be a valuable cog within the second unit.
