Milwaukee Bucks

Key additions: Donte DiVincenzo (draft), Ersan Ilyasova (free agency), Brook Lopez (free agency), Pat Connaughton (free agency)

Key subtractions: Jabari Parker (free agency), Brandon Jennings (waived)

Game-changing additions were never realistic for a team as cap-strapped as the Milwaukee Bucks, but when you have a core of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton, that’s probably okay. Despite the complete lack of wiggle room they had this summer, the Bucks did well to add complementary players who will fit in next to the Greek Freak.

Donte DiVincenzo was selected a little high, but could become a useful floor-spacer, secondary playmaker and all-around athlete. Ersan Ilyasova, Brook Lopez and Pat Connaughton won’t blow anyone away with their 3-point percentages, but defenses have to respect their shot simply for their high volume, which is going to make life immensely easier on Antetokounmpo.

If defenses collapse to cut off his drives, it’ll be open looks on the perimeter for the stretch-bigs. If they don’t provide enough help, Giannis is going to punish smaller and slower defenders off the dribble with his unstoppable length, massive spin moves and lightning-quick first step. In a Mike Budenholzer system, the results are going to be beautiful.

Losing a former No. 2 overall pick like Jabari Parker was tough, but he looked like a shell of his former self after two ACL tears. The moment it became clear Chicago was ready to make him a big offer, the Bucks were right to renounce him, allowing Parker to sign a deal with his hometown Bulls.

Grade: B+
