Indiana Pacers

Key additions: Aaron Holiday (draft), Alize Johnson (draft), Doug McDermott (free agency), Tyreke Evans (free agency), Kyle O’Quinn (free agency)

Key subtractions: Lance Stephenson (free agency), Al Jefferson (waived), Glenn Robinson III (free agency), Joe Young (free agency)

Are the Indiana Pacers being overlooked in the East? The Celtics, Raptors and 76ers are getting all the attention with LeBron James out of the picture, but don’t forget who also took the King to seven games in the playoffs after winning 48 games last year.

In the postseason, Indiana’s fatal flaw became a lack of scoring, playmaking and shooting outside of Victor Oladipo. To help solve the problem, management went into the offseason looking to upgrade the supporting cast.

While the Aaron Holiday draft selection comes with its fair share of supporters and cynics alike, he’ll be able to learn from Darren Collison and Cory Joseph, and should at least be an upgrade on Joe Young.

Free agency is where the Pacers really made a quiet killing though, landing Tyreke Evans and Kyle O’Quinn on one-year contracts and providing perimeter shooting with a three-year deal for Doug McDermott. There are still questions about the fit of Domantas Sabonis and Myles Turner in the frontcourt, but the injection of playmaking, shooting and all-around elite production in limited minutes from those three new arrivals could make Indiana an Eastern dark horse.
