3 shocking facts about Stephen Curry’s 2015-16 MVP season

1. The Warriors were invincible
This isn’t something that can be completely credited to Stephen Curry. The Warriors had an amazing team filled with star talent. Draymond Green became a defensive mastermind while Klay Thompson proved to be an elite shooter. The bench was rounded out with superb athletes such as Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston. This combined to make the Dubs one of the deadliest teams in NBA history.
Still, the majority of the fear caused by the Warriors came directly from the force of Steph Curry. He was demolishing teams night in and night out. There was seemingly no way to slow him or the Warriors down. Because of this, Golden State was invincible. Well, at least in the regular season.
The Warriors began the season with a 24-game win streak. This was the most consecutive wins ever recorded to start off a season. It was also nine games away from the league’s all-time win streak set by the Los Angeles Lakers. As previously mentioned, the Warriors won an NBA-record 73 games this season. They lost only one game at home and did not lose consecutive games throughout the entire regular season.
Golden State wasn’t just winning games, it was destroying teams. The Dubs’ average margin of victory was 10.7 points per game, which was the sixth-highest margin of victory by any team in league history. The Warriors won six games by 30 or more points and even killed the Memphis Grizzlies by 50 points. The true hallmark of an MVP season is elevating one’s team, and Curry’s 2015-16 campaign was the pinnacle of that kind of success.
