As much as people like to talk up the Los Angeles Lakers’ championship potential for 2018-19, you can avoid the inevitable heartbreak by being more realistic.

It’s very easy to get caught up in the hoopla surrounding the Los Angeles Lakers right now. With LeBron James in town and the Meme Team bolstering the bench, anything is possible, right? Up to this point, I’d be the first one to try and convince you of exactly that.

Unfortunately, things don’t always turn out the way we expect (or want) them to. Unless you’re a Golden State Warriors fan, you don’t get to watch your team make a legitimate run at a championship on an annual basis. That’s why, on occasion, I try to take off the rose-colored glasses and inject a little pessimism or realism into my thought process.

Well, that’s what I’m going to do today. Instead of the bold predictions I’ve put together in the past, I’m going to make some realistic predictions for the Lakers’ 2018-19 season.

Trust me when I say that there won’t be any claims of NBA glory in here. You won’t read any proclamations that every young Laker is going to evolve into a star by season’s end. We have to keep level heads, even in the world of sports. This is my attempt to do exactly that.

light. Hot. Keys to Lakers being legitimate contenders in 2018-19

So without further ado, let’s take a trip to a world where everything isn’t all good and dandy. Instead, let’s live in the real world where disappointment and despair loom around every corner. It’s time for a reality check folks, because the Lakers are headed for one in a few months too.
