The next part of the Orlando Magic’s rebuilding phase is unearthing a star, but who among their ranks is most likely to blossom next season?

The Orlando Magic have continued their second attempt at a rebuild this summer and have done what they can to continue to improve. While there have been strides made, there is still much work to do to get the Magic looking and feeling more relevant in the Eastern Conference.

One area of the organization that would really give the team a boost next season is internal player development. What this really means is seeing if one of their young players can take a big step forward to become the star player, or face, of the Magic.

Since Dwight Howard left in 2012, there have been some false dawns in this area. Nikola Vucevic was one player who it was thought could try and fill this void. While he put up notable stats during his time as their best player, it failed to translate to sustained winning for the Magic.

Next up was Victor Oladipo, and while he is now exactly that for the Indiana Pacers, the opportunity to be the man came too soon while he was in Orlando.

He didn’t make “the jump” until he was on his third team, but the hope is that a player already on the Magic’s roster can do just that in the upcoming 2018-19 season.

Here are the five most likely candidates of the players already on the roster to make the breakthrough and become Orlando’s go-to player next season and beyond.
