A trade between the Phoenix Suns and the Houston Rockets could be in the best interest of both teams, for the regular season and beyond.

The Phoenix Suns currently have a plethora of wings on the roster. Devin Booker, Josh Jackson, Mikal Bridges, Trevor Ariza and T.J. Warren are all good enough to warrant major playing time.

In the rest of the league, this would be considered a good problem to have. There’s a glut of great big men, and everyone (except Phoenix) seems to have a great point guard, but wings are a scarce commodity.

The Houston Rockets are experiencing this issue more than most. Their small-ball lineups featuring only guards and wings pushed the Golden State Warriors to seven games, but Ariza and Luc Mbah a Moute left in free agency, and the Rockets are reportedly trying to add another wing.

The Rockets have been shipping Ryan Anderson in order to fill that void. At roughly $42 million over the next two years, Anderson’s contract is not one Houston is eager to pay, especially considering he hardly played in the playoffs.

Bearing this in mind, a deal between the two teams could make sense.

Swapping Anderson and a first for Warren and Tyson Chandler could solve each team’s dilemma, and leave both more positionally balanced.
