The 2013 NBA Playoffs gave us a short glimpse into the future of the NBA with the Golden State Warriors’ postseason run.

We didn’t realize it at the time, but the 2013 NBA Playoffs foreshadowed the current landscape of the NBA. During these playoffs, the Golden State Warriors made their first big splash. This postseason would act as a precursor for what was to come for the rest of the league.

Golden State entered the playoffs as the 6-seed in the Western Conference. However, phenomenal performances by the team got the Dubs deeper into the bracket than anyone predicted. This was largely due to Stephen Curry himself. In many ways, this year can be seen as Curry’s coming out party. After this season, the league was ready for him to flourish.

This playoff run by the Warriors was something special. They were heavy underdogs in each series they played and put up an incredible fight in each game. The entire NBA fanbase was stunned to see this young team pushing an organization like the San Antonio Spurs to the edge.

While the Warriors didn’t finish the season as champions, their accomplishments catapulted them into elite status. The Dubs built off the momentum they gained from this year and used it to continue growing. Only two seasons later, they were NBA champions. Today, let’s take a look back at the postseason that was responsible for the rise of the Golden State Warriors.
