Re-signing Jerami Grant
The Oklahoma City Thunder renewed their commitment to forward Jerami Grant by signing him to a three-year, $27 million contract. This was perhaps the most surprising move the Thunder made during the free agency. Grant has been good, but he may not be worth $9 million per year.
Last season he averaged 8.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 20 minutes per game with the Thunder. His numbers don’t jump off the page, but he was an integral part of their bench. Speed, length and athleticism were his biggest strengths, as well as his ability to guard multiple positions.
Now, with Carmelo Anthony gone, Grant has a good chance at a role with the starting five. It will be interesting to see how he continues to develop and whether or not he can live up to his contract.
