Drafting Devon Hall

With pick No. 53 in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Oklahoma City Thunder selected Devon Hall. The Virginia product has potential to be a solid 3-and-D player. The Thunder need more players who can space the floor and hold their own at the defensive end, and Hall may be able to help fill the void for them.

Even with Carmelo Anthony’s ridiculous contract off the books, the Thunder are still a very expensive team. They will need quite a few inexpensive players on the roster to counterbalance the massive contracts of Westbrook and George. Because of this, Hall has a shot at cracking the final roster and getting some meaningful minutes next season.

In his senior year at Virginia, Hall averaged 11.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists while playing 32.1 minutes per game. It should be noted that he averaged only 1.0 turnovers per game as well. If he can take care of the ball even close to as well as that in the NBA, then his value will be even higher, especially playing alongside the turnover-machine that is Westbrook.

Hall was a solid pick for the Thunder. We may not see him make the final roster this year, but it wouldn’t be shocking if he did.
