Miami Heat: 3 potential trades with contending teams
By Simon Smith
Following a recent revelation by ESPN’s Zach Lowe, here are some deals the Miami Heat could potentially entertain with some of the league’s leading contenders.
At a recent teleconference with local reporters, Miami Heat team president Pat Riley stated that he was content with the composition of the current roster, and that their experience of playing together will benefit the team moving forward:
"“Continuity, to me, is important….We are going to be a very, very competitive team, and I do hope that through the continuity and the belief that we have in this roster, that they’ll be better….I feel good about where we are right now. I don’t feel any tremendous anxiety to go out and do something big because quite frankly, we can’t, but we will again one day.”"
However, a different slant has been thrown on the outlook for the Heat as it pertains to this summer and moving forward.
On a recent episode of The Lowe Post podcast, Zach Lowe of ESPN had a very succinct observation of the Heat:
"“The Heat are kicking a lot of tires, I can’t figure out what they’re trying to do.”"
The context in which Lowe phrased this was in a discussion about the Houston Rockets and the current makeup of their roster. Following a summer in which the Rockets lost some important pieces to free agency, Lowe stated the Heat were a possible suitor for a potential deal.
So while the Heat are publicly stating that they’re satisfied with their present roster, it’s clear from Lowe’s words that potential deals could possibly be open on the horizon.
With this in mind, here are three potential deals the Heat could explore this summer as it pertains to teams with title aspirations.
