Golden State Warriors: Ranking the 30 best Warriors ever
By Tony Pesta
7. Klay Thompson
Stats: 537 GP, 19.2 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 2.3 APG, 45.8 FG%
As the second and often overlooked Splash Brother, Klay Thompson’s importance to this current Warriors team mostly goes underappreciated. He serves as a safety net for the Dubs. When things go wrong for everyone else, they can count on Thompson to bail them out.
The best example of this was the 2016 Western Conference Finals. Playing against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Warriors faced elimination after falling down 3-1. In the toughest game of the season, Golden State had to beat the Thunder in OKC in order to force a Game 7. Thompson hit an NBA record 11 3-pointers and scored 46 points as the Dubs won the game. The Warriors went on to win Game 7 and advance to the NBA Finals.
Thompson is easily one of the greatest shooters in NBA history. For reference, he has two seasons that qualify for the NBA’s top 10 list of most 3-pointers made in a single season. Thompson also shoots 42.2 percent from the 3-point line, which is amazing for a player who shoots at the volume he does.
So far, Thompson has made it to four All-Star games and two All-NBA teams. He is a three-time NBA champion is certainly on pace to become a Hall-of-Famer.
