Golden State Warriors: Ranking the 30 best Warriors ever
By Tony Pesta
8. Draymond Green
Stats: 467 GP, 9.3 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 4.6 APG, 43.8 FG%
Perhaps the most versatile defender the Golden State Warriors have ever seen, Draymond Green is a beast on the defensive end. His size and impressive ability to move his feet make him one of the best defenders in the entire NBA.
Green’s contributions to the Warriors’ defense have been extremely important. He gives the Warriors the luxury of switching everything on defense. Not only does he have great physical capabilities, but he also has a high defensive IQ. Green understands the opponent’s tendencies and positions himself correctly on every play. Because of this, Green has been named to four All-Defensive teams and won the Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2016-17.
Green is also a superb playmaker for his size. He is able to grab a rebound and push the ball up the court to initiate a fast break. This has been a huge component of the Warriors’ offense in recent years.
When looking at only the seasons in which Green was a starter, he’s averaged 11.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. This makes Green one of the best all-around players in franchise history.
