Jason Richardson began his NBA career with the Golden State Warriors in 2001. In his rookie year, he scored 14.3 points per game on his way to being selected to the All-Rookie First Team.
In addition to being a solid scorer, J-Rich was quickly becoming known for his high-flying dunks. His ability to soar through the sky made him one of the premier dunkers in the league. As a rookie, Richardson posted a perfect score of 50 as he won the 2002 NBA Dunk Contest. This performance put the entire league on notice to his talent.
Richardson continued his rise to stardom next season by winning the Dunk Contest again. This made him the first back-to-back winner of the contest since Michael Jordan. Furthermore, Richardson began increasing his scoring consistently throughout the next four seasons. By the 2005-06 season, he was putting up 23.2 points per game, placing him in the top 10 for scoring that year.
Despite never making it to an All-Star team, Richardson was a star in Golden State. He helped bring the fanbase hope during a dark time in the franchise and will always be remembered as a fan favorite.
