Overall

The Mavericks have a potentially lethal backcourt in Dennis Smith Jr. and Luka Doncic, and it should have fans excited. Both are skilled offensive players that can cover each other’s deficiencies and turn the Mavericks into perennial playoff team in a few years.

In the present, bringing in DeAndre Jordan helps the team on both sides of the ball. Centers Dwight Powell, Raymond Spalding and Kostas Antetokounmpo could all benefit by training with an All-Star caliber center.

As for the rest of the roster, Rick Carlisle will have to get the most out of aging veterans J.J. Barea, Wesley Matthews, Devin Harris and Salah Mejri if the playoffs are to remain a possibility.

Mark Cuban was very active making moves for Dallas in what is likely going to be Dirk Nowitzki’s farewell season. Although he dropped the ball on re-signing Yogi Ferrell, he’s done a great job  accumulating young talent.
