Los Angeles Lakers: Complete 2018 offseason grades

Signing JaVale McGee
After resurrecting his career with the Golden State Warriors the last two seasons, JaVale McGee decided to join the Lakers on a one-year minimum deal.
The two-time NBA champion will likely start for the Lakers, as the center position is the weakest spot on the roster.
McGee adds a defensive toughness the Lakers lacked last year with Brook Lopez at center. Though he won’t shoot or score like Lopez, it’s his rebounding and blocking the Lakers are interested in.
Also, playing with James should give McGee a lot of open looks near the basket, similar to the open looks he got with the Warriors.
Though it’s not a flashy signing, McGee fits the mold of the ideal defensive anchor in the middle.
