Re-signing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka famously quoted a story from the Bible two years ago when the team signed Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
If it felt like bread coming down from heaven then, it’s got to feel even better now.
KCP returns to Los Angeles on another one-year deal, this one for $12 million — $6 million less than he got in 2017.
While Caldwell-Pope improved in a lot of areas, including 3-point shooting percentage and rebounding, his scoring and assists went down.
Now playing alongside King James, his numbers should go up across the board. He’ll face competition from Josh Hart for minutes, but if he can knock down the 3-ball with some consistency, he should maintain his starting role.
Grade: B-
