Los Angeles Lakers: Complete 2018 offseason grades
By Dan Lovi
Signing Michael Beasley
Like Stephenson, Michael Beasley is coming off one of his best seasons in a while. He started 30 games for the Knicks last year and averaged 13.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game while shooting 50.7 percent from the field.
Also like Stephenson, he’s unlikely to see the same amount of minutes he saw last year (22.3 per game). Hopefully that won’t deter him from being a team player, but the Lakers could always cut bait if need be. Beasley’s deal is team-friendly at $3.5 million for one year.
When he does get minutes, Beasley has proven he can score in bunches. The Lakers are hoping he could be a similar spark plug for them when they are facing early deficits in games.
Though Beasley is enigmatic at times and has never fully realized his potential, the Lakers get a talented player at a discounted rate.
Grade: B-
