3. Patrick Beverley (Los Angeles Clippers)

Arguably the best defensive point guard in the league, Beverley is a Rottweiler on the court who relishes the toughest challenges. During the 2017 NBA Playoffs when he was with the Houston Rockets, he famously went toe-to-toe with league MVP Russell Westbrook and helped his team come out on top.

That was the same year Beverley was named All-Defensive First Team, the second time he’s received All-Defensive honors in his career.

Beverley plays with the intensity and passion that Pistons fans love. His story is also an underdog story, which fits right into the Detroit narrative.

After his college career at Arkansas ended amid academic scandal, Beverley was traded by one NBA team and cut by another before he played an NBA game. Then he played pro ball in Ukraine, Greece and Russia before finally getting his NBA break and finding his place in the league.
