Los Angeles Lakers: Predicting starting lineup and rotation
By Dan Lovi
C: JaVale McGee
JaVale McGee will most likely get the starting nod at center, but it doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be playing heavy minutes.
McGee averaged under 10 minutes per game in his two seasons in Golden State, and started a total of 27 games in the regular season. He did start nine games this past postseason, proving to be extremely effective in his role as a defensive anchor and rebounder.
The veteran big man averaged 4.8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game last year, which was pretty efficient considering he averaged only 9.5 minutes per game.
Though McGee isn’t likely to be on the court down the stretch of a close game, he could still see more time than he did last season. The Lakers’ roster isn’t loaded with centers, particularly defensive-minded ones.
