SG: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

It wasn’t a down year for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope per se, who averaged career-highs in field goal percentage, 3-point percentage, steals and rebounds.

It wasn’t a particularly noteworthy season either, as KCP rarely stood out in a season where he was the only guard who played consistent minutes.

Caldwell-Pope averaged 13.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 33.2 minutes per game. He started in 74 games, missing some contests due to off-the-court issues stemming from his time in Detroit.

KCP shot 38.3 percent from downtown, and was tied with Kyle Kuzma for the most made 3-pointers on the team with 159.

Despite his improved shooting, the 25-year-old guard could potentially lose his starting job to Summer League MVP Josh Hart, a player Lakers brass is very high on.

Unless Hart totally outshines Caldwell-Pope in training camp, the latter is likely to retain his starting job. Of course, the NBA season is a marathon and things can change at any time.
