PG: Lonzo Ball

Lonzo Ball finished a lackluster rookie campaign averaging 10.2 points, 7.2 assists and 6.9 rebounds in 52 games played. He shot 36 percent from the field and a lowly 45.1 percent from the free throw line.

Ball missed 30 games due to injury last season, which is concerning. To make matters worse, he recently had surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee.

If Ball is ready for the beginning of training camp as suggested, the starting point guard spot will be his to lose. Newcomer Rajon Rondo will certainly push the young guard, but the Lakers didn’t invest their second overall pick in Ball to have him come off the bench.

This second year is arguably more important than Ball’s rookie campaign, as expectations are even higher playing alongside James. If he wants to silence the doubters, showing he can flourish alongside one of the best to ever play the game and perhaps even elevating James’ game will certainly help his cause.
