Los Angeles Lakers: Predicting starting lineup and rotation
By Dan Lovi
No. 12: Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk
While Josh Hart was the Summer League MVP, Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk was the surprise player of the Las Vegas tournament.
Svi averaged 16.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 24.7 minutes per game in Summer League, earning him a spot on the All-NBA Summer League Second Team.
The Lakers used the 47th overall pick to draft the scoring wing from Kansas, hoping he’d help with their 3-point shooting. The Lakers were the second-worst 3-point shooting team in the league last season, and all the veterans they signed aren’t particularly good 3-point shooters.
Svi’s shooting ability makes him the likeliest candidate to earn more minutes as the year progresses. He’ll likely start on the bench to begin the season, but if he wows the coaching staff in practice and in the minutes he does play, Svi could earn significant playing time.
