After a surprise appearance in the 2018 playoffs, the Indiana Pacers appear to have improved once again during the league’s summer months.

Heading into the 2018 offseason, the Indiana Pacers were looked at by many to be one of the most interesting teams in the Eastern Conference.

They had just taken the eventual conference champion Cleveland Cavaliers to seven games in their first round series, and with plenty of cap space and a young nucleus with room to grow, they would no doubt arrive at training camp looking better than ever.

So far so good, as the Pacers clearly aren’t just relying on the internal development of some of their better players. They made moves in both the draft and free agency that should pay off nicely this coming season.

Aaron Holiday was a late first round pick and could turn into a solid rotation piece or possibly something bigger, while the trio of Doug McDermott, Kyle O’Quinn and Tyreke Evans provide Indiana with an upgraded supporting cast.

Plenty of people around the NBA continuously refer to the Pacers as the dark horses of the Eastern Conference. With the moves they’ve made over the last few months, that title may have to be upgraded to serious contenders in their conference.
