Carmelo Anthony is set to join the Houston Rockets after completing his buyout with the Atlanta Hawks. Let’s see how he’ll fit with the team.

The Houston Rockets missed out on making a big splash to acquire one of the many top talents in the NBA who were free agents, but still managed to add a big name.

Former Oklahoma City Thunder forward Carmelo Anthony is expected to join the Houston Rockets on a one-year, $2.4 million deal upon reaching a buyout agreement with the Atlanta Hawks.

Anthony was originally traded from the Thunder to the Atlanta Hawks so that OKC could offload his expensive contract. With no intentions of retaining Anthony’s services, Atlanta waived him, allowing him to join the Houston Rockets on a veteran minimum deal once he clears waivers.

Initial reactions from Rockets fans have to be a mix of excitement and relief. The excitement is obvious because Anthony is a 10-time All-Star with elite abilities, even at 34 years old. The relief is felt in that the Rockets have addressed a major need at the forward position after Trevor Ariza and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute both left the team in free agency. Let’s examine Anthony’s fit with the team.
