Minnesota Timberwolves: 3 takeaways from the 2018 offseason
By Derek Hryn
In a quieter offseason than usual for the Minnesota Timberwolves, here are a few noteworthy developments with the team during this summer.
The Minnesota Timberwolves quite possibly have lost more than they’ve gained this offseason — and they only have themselves to blame.
Dating back to 2014 when they traded Kevin Love for a coveted young star in Andrew Wiggins, they became a team whose main goal was to enter a rebuilding stage. Now, four years later, it seems as if that plan is failing.
This summer was a tough one to swallow for the T-Wolves and their fans.
The team moved on from two frontcourt players in Nemanja Bjelica and Cole Aldrich. Veteran shooting guard Jamal Crawford won’t be back either, as he declined his $4.33 million option back in mid-June.
Re-signing Derrick Rose was the Timberwolves’ only real move of substance in free agency. They also came out this year’s NBA Draft with another shooting guard in Josh Okogie, and filled their small forward vacancy with Keita Bates-Diop.
Through all of the ups and downs, here’s a look at three takeaways from the Wolves’ 2018 offseason.
