1. He has something to prove

Despite reaching the postseason for the first time in five years during his lone season with the Thunder, Carmelo Anthony never attained the individual success his former teammates Russell Westbrook and Paul George did. The three-time Olympic gold medalist posted career-low numbers in scoring, usage, true shooting percentage, assists and win shares per 48 minutes en route to producing the worst playoff performance of his illustrious career.

Anthony — who was relegated to serving as a secondary spot-up shooter in Oklahoma City midway through the year — averaged a postseason-low 11.8 points per game on 37.5 percent shooting from the field during the playoffs, as he never discovered comfort in his assigned role under Billy Donovan.

"“I think the player that they wanted me to be and needed me to be was for the sake of this season,” Anthony said to reporters during Oklahoma City’s exit interview last season. “As far as being effective as that type of player, I don’t think that I can be as effective as that type of player.”"

Now, Anthony seeks to brace himself for his next chapter of basketball with the Rockets, where he will have the opportunity to play for a chance to capture an NBA championship.

Although Melo failed to perform up to the standards that most of his spectators were accustomed to expecting last year, the player who rose to prominence as a member of the Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks, could seek to come out with something to prove right away in Houston.
