2. Melo is one of the top clutch performers in the NBA

Although Anthony’s defense has been heavily criticized throughout the years, no one can deny that the 6’8″, 240-pound force is one of the NBA’s best players with the game on the line, as the man who once lit up Madison Square Garden with his offensive barrages is arguably one of the most clutch performers in the history of basketball.

Since the 2003-04 regular season, Anthony has hit a total of 16 game-winning shots within the final five seconds of the fourth quarter or overtime, and has proven to his skeptics that he can come through in big moments when the opportunity presents itself thanks to his ability to get his shot off from virtually anywhere on the floor.

This makes him the quintessential fit for the team that resides in Clutch City.

While no one knows for sure if Melo will be on the floor late to help the Rockets finish out games, there is no question that head coach Mike D’Antoni will likely look to call upon him should Houston need to garner a bucket in a close contest. Anthony’s ability to make heroic plays come crunch time could be the difference between whether or not Houston is able to officially dethrone the Golden State Warriors next season.
