The San Antonio Spurs have had a summer of pivotal decisions. Here are three takeaways from their 2018 offseason.

This offseason was an important one for the San Antonio Spurs. As they transition out of the Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker era, every move they make has a big impact on the future of the franchise.

Several important events transpired for the Spurs over the last several weeks. Most notably, they put an end to the Kawhi Leonard saga by trading him to the Toronto Raptors for DeMar DeRozan in one of the biggest deals of the summer. This trade says a lot about San Antonio’s outlook on a rebuild.

In addition to this blockbuster trade, the Spurs also were active in the draft, picking up two very intriguing young prospects in Lonnie Walker IV and Chimezie Metu. Lastly, the Spurs took advantage of the free agency period to bring back some familiar faces and also add some new ones.

It’s a new-look Spurs team, and it remains to be seen how they will fare next season in a Western Conference that seems to get more vicious every year. Here are three takeaways from their 2018 offseason as we prepare for another season of Spurs basketball.
