Sacramento Kings: 3 takeaways from the 2018 offseason

1. 2017 draft picks showed early signs of improvement
The 2017 NBA Draft was loaded with young prospects two years ago, and the Kings came away with four of them: two guards in De’Aaron Fox and Frank Mason III and two forwards in Harry Giles and Justin Jackson.
All of them showed tremendous strides in NBA Summer League this offseason.
Fox, 20, is the conditional star of the future in Sacramento. The team will presumably give the Kentucky product the majority of the minutes at point guard next year.
Mason, however, will be in competition for the primary backup role with fellow point guard Yogi Ferrell, who is coming off of an impressive season with the Dallas Mavericks.
Giles and Jackson both proved that they’ve used their opening year in the league as a learning experience. During this summer’s games, Giles did the job on the defensive end, while Jackson hauled in a few solid offensive performances. Both have improved their chances of seeing precious minutes next year.
The Kings will look to keep their progress rolling in the next couple of months leading up to training camp.
