With the Sacramento Kings in full-blown rebuilding mode, they have remained focused on their current assets and less on free agent commodities. Here are a few takeaways from the team’s offseason.

The Sacramento Kings have loaded up on young talent the past two years in an attempt to put together something special for the future — and it is working almost too well for them so far.

Twelve of the Kings’ 16 current players on the roster do not exceed the age of 25.

The offseason began with the thrill of holding the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, where they selected one of college basketball’s most exciting players from last year in Marvin Bagley III.

Bagley will most likely be the starting power forward for Sacramento next season.

Although free agency shopping was put on the back burner this summer, they still found a way to make a few minor enhancements to the roster, which included a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies for Ben McLemore and Deyonta Davis.

The team also acquired point guard Yogi Ferrell (two years, $6.2 million) and power forward Nemanja Bjelica (three years, $20.5 million) in free agency.

Bearing all this in mind, here’s a look at three takeaways from their 2018 offseason.
