The Sacramento Kings have three players who are poised for a breakout season in 2018-19.

Potential is not a friendly word for Sacramento Kings fans. The word has been used many times before, but it has often left Kings fans in despair.

Ray McCallum was said to have potential when he carried the Kings to the 2014 NBA Summer League championship. Jason Thompson was supposed to reach his full potential when he played seven seasons with the Kings. Even Spencer Hawes had potential, but he just turned out to be arguably the most hated person ever in Sacramento.

Other notable Kings players who had potential include Quincy Douby, Georgios Papagiannis, Thomas Robinson, Ben McLemore, Jimmer Fredette and Nik Stauskas.

As Kings fans were often told, all those players were supposed to reach their potential in three or four years. That obviously didn’t come true.

In 2018, the Kings have a team of mostly players under the age of 25. Once again, these players have shown potential. This time, however, potential might finally turn into something meaningful.

That’s because the Kings have finally committed to developing the youth, setting the stage for the players to reach their full potential. The following three players in particular showed a glimpse of their potential last season and are now poised for a breakout 2018-19 NBA season.
