With the draft and free agency period now in the books, here are three takeaways from the 2018 offseason for the Philadelphia 76ers.

Following an action-packed 52-win season in which they finished the year in barnstorming fashion on their way to the second round of the playoffs, the 2018 offseason has thus far been relatively low-key for the Philadelphia 76ers.

Led primarily by emerging superstars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, the Sixers exceeded all expectations with an enormous 24-win jump from the previous season. Naturally, such an exciting run brings about many possibilities entering the offseason.

The Sixers kicked things off at the 2018 NBA Draft, where they selected Mikal Bridges, only to deal him to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Zhaire Smith and a future first round pick. Considering where the Sixers sit in the pecking order in the Eastern Conference, many were curious about the move. Therefore, time will tell how the transaction pans out.

Then there was free agency, where the Sixers’ prime activity was the re-signing of veteran sharpshooter J.J. Redick. Additionally, the Sixers recently completed two separate trades, which landed them veteran forward Wilson Chandler from the Denver Nuggets, and Mike Muscala from the Atlanta Hawks.

While they entered the summer in the hopes of luring names such as LeBron James and Paul George, the Sixers will need to settle for their current roster for the time being unless a dramatic offer arises.

With this in mind, here are three takeaways from the Sixers’ 2018 offseason.
