3. The Rockets are trying to get younger

One trend that became obvious with the moves Houston made is that it would like to have younger players on the roster. Trevor Ariza left the team and he is 33 years old, while Luc Richard Mbah a Moute pursued another contract at 31 years old.

The players they brought in are slightly younger and have more upside in terms of being able to continue to grow as players in the league. Michael Carter-Williams is 26 years old and James Ennis is 28. These are players can contribute immediately to a contending team and still have the best years of their careers ahead of them.

The team also has some promising young players that are starting to show flashes. Isaiah Hartenstein was impressive in NBA Summer League and there is a chance he is given a chance to compete for a spot in the frontcourt rotation. The team’s rookies, D’Anthony Melton and Vincent Edwards, also played well in Summer League and could make the opening night roster.
