7. The statement win

The best part of the Raptors’ longest season winning streak was ending another team’s. Unfortunately for the Houston Rockets, their NBA season-best winning streak of 17 games was ended by Toronto.

The battle of the two best teams (by record) atop each of their respected conferences was a thriller down to the end. The Toronto Raptors won 108-105, cooling off the red-hot visiting Rockets. Both teams were at a grueling stage in their schedules, playing the third game in five nights, which was slightly worse for Houston as the traveling team.

The Raptors’ win was arguable their biggest of the season and one of the best games of the year in the NBA. At the time, this game had all the media buzzing about a possible NBA Finals preview, putting Toronto on the map in regards to contention for the Larry O’Bryant.

Aside from the sensationally entertaining bout between the two conference leaders, what made this game tremendously important was the fact the Raptors were one of four teams to have bested the Western Conference giants with their whole roster healthy and suited up to play.

With the Rockets giving their all (as far as a regular season game goes), the Raptors were able to fight them off for the victory. To put in perspective of how big the win was, Houston had not lost a game for 42 days until they met the Raptors on March 9.
