10. A season with many firsts

The 2017-18 season wasn’t full of expectations; Odds Shark had them at a modest 47.5 wins odds heading into the campaign. Many analysts believe Toronto would struggle getting home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

The Boston Celtics had recently acquired two top talents in Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward, Cleveland still had LeBron, and the Philadelphia 76ers’ Process seemed primed for taking over the conference. This was in addition to the other stalwarts in the East such as the Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks and Washington Wizards.

Not only, did they beat their projects, they were the best team in the East with a franchise-record 59 wins. This was also the second-best record in the NBA, trailing only the Western Conference’s top seed team, the Houston Rockets (65 wins). The Toronto Raptors had a better record than the juggernaut defending champions, the Golden State Warriors (58 wins).

This wasn’t the only accolade the Raptors were able to accomplish, they also set franchise records in home wins (34) and road wins (25). The new modernized offense had a lot of success, second in the league for points per possession (1.14), second in offensive rating (113.8), second in net rating (7.78) third in points per game (111.7), sixth in field goal percentage (47.2), and sixth in assists per game (24.3).
