5. OG Anunoby’s development is well on track

Former 23rd overall pick OG Anunoby didn’t appear in the final game of the summer for the Raptors, but he didn’t waste time flaunting his improvement with a year of NBA experience under his belt.

In his rookie season, he went from being a sought-after young asset, to becoming a rugged starter for the 59-win Raptors by playoff time, to eventually becoming a valuable role player, most notably on defense.

His offense was finally unleashed during this offseason’s games. The 21-year-old small forward averaged 15.8 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per contest in four games played in Summer League.

Heading into his second season, he should only improve – that is, if the organization doesn’t succumb to slumber in his development process.

With Kawhi Leonard now landing in Toronto for what should at least be a one-year tenure, newly hired head coach Nick Nurse will need to find a way to supplement Anunoby’s minutes.
