2. Tough decisions are looming in Oakland

With each passing season and another trophy easily won, fans continue to check up on the contract situation of the Warriors core for a time when maybe, just maybe, things could change.

If some are waiting for the chance to poach Stephen Curry, keep waiting. The two-time MVP inked a five-year deal in the summer of 2017, putting him in the free agency class of 2023.

The three other All-Stars from the last two title teams, though, are a different story.

Klay Thompson‘s contract expires at the end of the 2019 season, and with ties to the Los Angeles Laker and the city of L.A., some may consider that a potential landing spot for Klay when the time comes.

Then there’s Draymond Green, who, according to ESPN‘s Chris Haynes won’t be so willing to take a pay cut when his deal expires after the 2019-20 season.

There is a simple solution to keep this dynasty going. If owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber are willing, they can simply pay all of these guys while facing incredibly harsh luxury tax penalties. This may not be the most ideal situation, but such is the sacrifice for greatness.

More likely than not, though, the Warriors brass will have to make some uncomfortable decisions in the coming summers, figuring out who to keep and who to let walk. They’ve been incredibly fortunate when it comes to the money side of the game, but the clock is ticking on this window of opportunity for the Dubs.

Whether or not they’ll continue to keep it open will be a topic of conversation throughout this upcoming season.
