Marco Belinelli: 2 years, $12 million (San Antonio Spurs)
The Kawhi Leonard replacements aren’t exactly pretty so far, but the San Antonio Spurs could also be doing much worse. After agreeing to re-sign a soon-to-be 32-year-old Rudy Gay on a manageable one-year deal, the team will bring back another former Spur in Marco Belinelli.
Already 32 years old, Belinelli is an effective bench piece, but little more. Fortunately, he’s familiar with Gregg Popovich and the Spurs’ way after winning a title with the team in 2014. He’s also coming off a terrific 28-game stretch with the 76ers where he averaged a career-high 13.6 points per game on 38.5 percent shooting from downtown.
Belinelli brings floor-spacing and bench scoring, and at a meager price of $6 million a year, the Spurs are doing their best with the unfortunate Kawhi Leonard situation currently at hand.
