Anthony Tolliver: 1 year, $5.8 million (Minnesota Timberwolves)
Derrick Rose returns notwithstanding, the Minnesota Timberwolves are doing well to round out the bench. Whether Tom Thibodeau actually utilizes it is another matter entirely, but after withdrawing their qualifying offer from Nemanja Bjelica, the Wolves are picking up Anthony Tolliver on a $5.8 million deal — a great depth addition for a team that ranked dead-last in 3-point attempts and makes last year.
Tolliver, a career 37.6 percent 3-point shooter, provides frontcourt depth and floor-spacing as a stretch-4 who shot 43.6 percent from downtown on 4.6 attempts per game last year — both career highs.
Though he’s 33 years old and though the move hard-caps the Wolves, Tolliver is well-respected as one of the game’s most helpful locker room vets, and he fills a specific need. Please, Thibs. Give Anthony Tolliver more than five minutes a night off the bench next season.
