Zaza Pachulia: 1 year, $2.4 million (Detroit Pistons)

It looks like the Detroit Pistons are ready to bring the Bad Boys back, agreeing to a one-year minimum contract with Zaza Pachulia in a move that would make Bill Laimbeer proud.

A signing like this could be beefed up by buzzwords like “championship experience” or “locker room veteran,” but the simple truth of the matter is he’s an improvement over Eric Moreland as the team’s backup center. He’s tough and yes, sometimes downright dirty.

For all his limitations as the worst member of the Golden State Warriors’ starting five, Pachulia is the kind of guy you want in the trenches with you. For that, for his veteran presence and for the sheer fact he’s an upgrade from Moreland, this is a sound move for the Pistons.
