Shabazz Napier: 2 years, $3.5 million (Brooklyn Nets)
One man’s junk is another man’s treasure, and in Sean Mark’s case, his treasures seem to keep coming from Neil Olshey’s trash bin. With the Brooklyn Nets agreeing to a two-year deal with Shabazz Napier, Rip City’s backup point guard now joins Allen Crabbe and Ed Davis as former Blazers on Marks’ roster.
Coming off a career year in Portland, Napier will help stabilize Brooklyn’s guard rotation, which just shipped off Jeremy Lin and Isaiah Whitehead. He’ll probably fill a similar role off the bench behind D’Angelo Russell, Spencer Dinwiddie, Caris LeVert and Joe Harris in the backcourt.
Last season, Napier averaged a career-high 8.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 20.7 minutes per game, canning 37.6 percent of his triples. If he can put up similar production in limited minutes, this is a strong and (likely) low-cost move.
