Yogi Ferrell: 2 years, $6.2 million (Sacramento Kings)

After agreeing to a two-year deal to return to the Dallas Mavericks, Yogi Ferrell reneged on his agreement, becoming the second player this summer to back out on a deal only to pivot into talks with the Sacramento Kings (with Nemanja Bjelica being the other). Despite this surprising turn of events, this is pretty good value for a 25-year-old backup 2-guard who has shown plenty of flashes during his first two years with the Mavs.

Everyone remembers Ferrell’s 32-point, nine-3-pointer breakout performance that led to his first two-year pact with the team, but he quietly made good on the promise of that potential. He didn’t quite reach those same highs with Dennis Smith Jr. running the point, but Ferrell quietly averaged a tidy 10.2 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in his 27.8 minutes per game last year, shooting 37.3 percent from distance.

Unfortunately, the fit in a backcourt that already includes De’Aaron Fox, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Buddy Hield, Frank Mason III and Ben McLemore is fairly iffy, making this an odd pairing.
