The 2018 NBA free agency period is beginning to slow down. Here’s a look at the best bargain deals teams made for themselves.
The 2018 NBA free agency frenzy was swallowed up by the news of LeBron James heading West to play for the Los Angeles Lakers, but there were a lot of bargain deals made as well. LeBron wasn’t the only player to join the Lakers either, as Lance Stephenson, Rajon Rondo, Michael Beasley and JaVale McGee both landed one-year deals.
Some teams have put themselves in prime position for a solid 2018-19 season. The Golden State Warriors got better with the acquisition of DeMarcus Cousins, much to the chagrin of the rest of the league.
The Dallas Mavericks ended up luring DeAndre Jordan back with a one-year deal worth roughly $24.1 million. Jordan joins a new club after spending 10 seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers. The Clippers were busy in free agency as well, as they signed Avery Bradley to a two-year deal and signed reserve Mike Scott to a one-year deal.
Consider it a year of “one-year deals,” as a number of veterans and young players will have the potential to show their new teams what they can do. While they won’t be the sole focus, here’s a look at some deals worth mentioning:
