Despite not putting together impressive numbers in his fifth NBA season, James Ennis showed flashes of being a lockdown defender and 3-point shooter throughout particular stretches of contests. While also earning the opportunity to show his value on a team in the playoff hunt.

Through 45 games with the Grizzlies, Ennis displayed the ability to hit big time shots in catch-and-shoot situations, averaging 6.9 points per game and shooting 35.7 percent from beyond the arc. In addition to covering multiple positions as a defender on primary assignments.

However, Ennis failed to do so in consistent fashion, as the former Long Beach State star who was dealt to the Pistons at the trade deadline struggled to find his footing in the Motor City.

Ennis, who averaged 7.6 points and 2.5 rebounds per game with Detroit, shot a career-low 30 percent from downtown in 27 contests.

Although Ennis suffered a slight drop-off in shooting during his brief stint with the Pistons, the 28-year-old forward could find a way to thrive alongside Chris Paul and James Harden in H-Town.

A place where the two superstars will likely grant him with more open looks than ever before, as Ennis will have all of the pieces around him to put together a career year with the Rockets.
