The Los Angeles Lakers ended the 2018 NBA Summer League on a losing note, but still had a strong summer campaign.

The Los Angeles Lakers were almost as hot as the Las Vegas sun in 2018 NBA Summer League, cruising to a 6-1 record and a spot in the championship game.

The Lakers lost to the Portland Trail Blazers 91-73 in the final, but there were still plenty of bright spots on the purple and gold horizon.

All three of the players the Lakers selected in the draft, Moritz Wagner, Isaac Bonga and Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk were able to play. The Lakers had the opportunity to look at other young players on their summer team and ended up signing undrafted guard Joel Berry II.

Josh Hart took his game to a whole new level, winning the Summer League MVP award.

So despite losing in the finale, there was still plenty to be excited about in Laker Land. Here are five takeaways from the Los Angeles Lakers’ campaign in NBA Summer League.
