2. L.A. got him on the cheap

In this era of versatile, positionless basketball, the value of 3-and-D wings has never been higher. Teams want players who can guard multiple positions without having to sacrifice anything on the offense end.

Having said that, the NBA has seen quite a few organizations doll out big bucks to players who somewhat fit that mold in the hopes of adding more wins to their record.

This summer, Jerami Grant got a three-year deal worth $27 million. Glenn Robinson III signed for two years and $8 million. Taj Gibson was granted $28 million over two years in the summer of 2017.

These deals may not be as crazy as some of the others that have occurred in recent years, but the teams that gave out those contracts aren’t exactly getting much bang for their buck.

Then there’s the contract given to Mbah a Moute, which doesn’t hurt Los Angeles in terms of the length or the amount of that deal, and yet he’ll probably provide equal or greater value than those three guys listed above.
