1. Capela is a must-have

The Houston Rockets and Clint Capela are still in a deadlock over negotiations, but the Kings have the money to swoop in and meet Capela’s demands. Again, it’s hard to figure out why this hasn’t happened yet.

Sure, the Kings have about 100 bigs on their roster, but the 24-year-old Capela is better than any of them. Any other team with cap space would be doing whatever it takes to land a defender and rim-runner like Capela, but the Kings are kind of unique.

Would they really pass on a center who has improved his offense every year, going from 2.7 points per game in 2014 to 13.9 points per game in 2017? Would they pass on a center who hold his own Stephen Curry on one play, then do the same Kevin Durant on the next possession? Knowing this front office, the answer to those questions is probably yes.

But if the Sacramento Kings decide to get their brains together, they will do whatever it takes to make room for this rare talent. Even if the Rockets have been lowballing Capela this whole time and wind up matching an outside offer, it’d be better than doing nothing.
